The speculation surrounding a 2014 Australian appearance from Foster The People was reaching a critical point when Splendour In The Grass organisers finally put fans out of their misery and confirmed the LA trio for their 2014 event, and now fans without Splendour tix can celebrate too.
Foster The People will be touring Australia on the heels of their latest album, Supermodel, which Music Feeds reviewer Sam Murphy lauded as an “ultimately more challenging” follow-up to the band’s smash debut and for being a fitting accompaniment to the band’s ascension to stardom.
Mark Foster and the boys first became Splendour candidates in March, after the aforementioned frontman confirmed to Music Feeds that the Pumped Up Kicks hit-makers would stage an Australian tour this year and even mused on his love for SITG, the band’s first Australian festival.
The lineup announcement for Japan’s Fuji Rock festival a couple days later cemented their place on our Splendour Lineup Rumours & Info page, where they sat among our other strong contenders like Sky Ferreira, who leaked her own string of Splendour sideshows last week.
UPDATE 6:00pm 07/07/14: Foster The People have confirmed that joining them for their Splendour In The Grass sideshows will be Sydney indie rockers Gang of Youths, one of the local scene’s most respected outfits and the much-deserved recipients of NME magazine’s number one ‘buzz band’ accolade last September. Fans should be quick to secure tickets as all dates are selling fast.
