Foster The People’s ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ Pulled From Airwaves Following School Massacre

TMZ has reported that prominent taste-maker radio station KIIS-FM has pulled Foster the People’s smash hit Pumped Up Kicks from their rotation. The track, which tells the story of a school shooting, has been deemed inappropriate given the recent Newtown school massacre.

The lyrics of the track vividly reference a school shooting, and despite its popularity, sources have revealed it will get no airplay whatsoever.

The song’s chorus features the lines ‘All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, / You better run, better run, outrun my gun. / All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, / You better run, better run, faster than my bullet.” Frontman Mark Foster explained that the song was partly inspired by the Columbine School Shooting.

This is the 2nd track to be pulled from the airwaves following Kesha’s Die Young, which was scrapped earlier today.
