Gerard Way Likely To Support Smashing Pumpkins At Sidewaves

Soundwave chief AJ Maddah has commented that former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way is likely to be the support act at Smashing Pumpkins‘ upcoming Sidewaves in Melbourne and Sydney.

In response to a fan’s request on Twitter for a Gerard Way Sidewave, Maddah commented that it “looks like he is supporting Pumpkins”. Way last toured Australia with his band My Chemical Romance in 2012 and this time round will be touting his debut solo effort Hesitant Alien.

On top of their headlining Soundwave 2015 sets, Smashing Pumpkins will head up Festival Hall in Melbourne on Monday 23rd February and Sydney’s Hordern Pavillion on Wednesday, 25th February. Their current lineup consists of Billy Corgan and guitarist Jeff Schroeder, with Killers bassist Mark Stoermer and Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk.

They’ll be bringing their latest studio effort Monuments To An Elegy. Music Feeds are also giving away four huge VIP packages for the Pumpkins Sidewaves, which include tickets to the show, an exclusive three-song post-soundcheck acoustic set, plus a Q&A session with the band! UPDATE 19/02/15: Smashing Pumpkins have announced that they will be supported by Gerard Way and One Ok Rock at their Melbourne and Sydney sidewaves. The band’s Sydney headline show has also seen a venue change — the concert remains on Wednesday, 25th February, but has moved from the Hordern Pavilion to the Big Top at Luna Park. All tickets to the show will remain valid. View updated sidewave details, below.
