German Festival Forced To Evacuate After Bad Weather Ravaged The Grounds

Bad weather has had its way with more than a few festivals this year and it’s struck once again forcing Germany’s aptly named Hurricane Festival to evacuate.

Festival organisers had to evacuate punters at the festival on Friday and cancel the Saturday after violent weather tore through. Luckily, they were able to resume once again on Sunday when the sun came out.

Aussies Courtney Barnett and Tired Lion both had their sets cancelled while Yeasayer, The Offspring and Walk The Moon were also canned. Southside Festival which was being put on by the same promoters also had to cancel action thanks to Germany’s bad weather.

As The Music reports, emergency services were called in to drain Hurricane Festival so that the site could host people once again on the Sunday.

Still punters didn’t seem to mind the wet weather too much if this video is anything to go by.

This is another cancellation to add to the list of festivals that have gone down this year because of bad weather. New York City’s Governors Ball was forced to cancel its third day while 80 were injured when lightning struck Germany’s Rock Am Ring. Texas’ LEVITATION Festival earlier this year also had to cancel thanks to bad weather.

Let’s hope that Splendour In The Grass doesn’t catch 2016’s festival bad weather curse.
