Ginger & Drum Announce First Single ‘Cowboy’ Off Forthcoming EP

Sydney duo Ginger & Drum have announced that they will be releasing Cowboy, the first single off their forthcoming EP, at an upcoming performance for FBi Social this coming weekend. The pair are surely eager to debut their new material, which will follow on from their 2011 demo Blow.

Blow found considerable traction with triple j and FBi and was given some solid airplay as a result. However, Cowboy will mark the dawn of a new age for Ginger & Drum who have invited siblings into the fold resulting in a much bigger sound, and once again sidestep the tag of ‘folk’, injecting a healthy dose of spicy synth, bringing to mind bands such as Temper Trap or perhaps The Jezabels but a totally different animal all together.

Andy Rawson, better known as the ‘drum’ part of the equation has explained the idea behind Cowboy, saying that the track is a “comment on humankind’s insecurity and need to prove its worth, ultimately resulting in weakness and potential harm to others”.

The band are expecting to release their upcoming, yet-to-be titled EP sometime midway through September. Cowboy will be officially released Saturday, 10th August.
