Supergrass frontperson Gaz Coombes is heading to Australia later this month to support Robbie Williams on his extensive ’25 Years Of Hits’ tour. In between arena shows in Sydney and Melbourne and A Day on the Green events on the east and west coast, Coombes will play a trio of headline shows. We’ve got a double pass to give away to Coombes’ shows in Sydney and Melbourne. Details at the bottom of this page.
It’s now more than a dozen years since Supergrass’ most recent album, Diamond Hoo Ha, came out, but Coombes has dived into his solo career. He released his third album, World’s Strongest Man, in 2018, followed by Turn the Car Around in January 2023. Listen to the latter album’s lead single, ‘Don’t Say It’s Over’, below.

Coombes launched his solo career with 2012’s Here Come the Bombs. The album came out via Coombes’ own label, Hot Fruit Recordings, and featured Coombes on all the instrumentation. Coombes inked a partnership with Caroline International for his next solo effort, 2015’s Matador.
In a four star review, The Guardian‘s Jon Dennis praised Coombes’ raw and vulnerable vocal performances on Matador. “Coombes’s voice has always been a powerful pop instrument, thrillingly on the edge of hysteria. On Matador, it’s also a howl of pain.”
Coombes will play at Sydney’s Liberty Hall on Tuesday, 14th November and Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre on Tuesday, 21st. We’ve got a double pass to give away to each. To win, email us at contact@musicfeeds.com.au with ‘Gaz Coombes Giveaway’ in the subject line and your answer to this question: Among famous band leaders, whose solo career is your favourite?
