Grimes appeared in a sketch on last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live, which was guest-hosted by husband Elon Musk.
The electronic musician played Princess Peach in a Super Mario-themed courtroom sketch. Musk also appeared in the sketch portraying Wario, who has been accused of murdering Mario by throwing a banana peel at his go-kart.
It marked Grimes’ first-ever appearance on the popular late night program. As Pitchfork points out, the musician recently tweeted about why she has yet to make a musical appearance on the show.
“The music booker from SNL came to my show once but I literally concussed myself in the first ten mins of the show, blacked out and played a famously horrific set that I have no memory of and I think the booker thinks I’m the worst live act ever,” she wrote late last month.
Elsewhere in the episode, Miley Cyrus and The Kid LAROI teamed up to perform their recent remix of LAROI’s hit ‘Without You’ live. Cyrus also performed the title track from seventh studio album Plastic Hearts.
