Here Are All The Collaborators On Beyoncé’s Lion King-Inspired Album, Out This Week

Today Beyoncé released the new video for her single ‘Spirit’, taken from the soundtrack to the just-released Lion King remake.  Come this Friday, we’ll have a new album executive produced, curated and largely performed by Bey entitled The Gift. Dubbed a “love letter to Africa” by the singer, the album will feature new songs inspired by the film.

Now, we know the full list of collaborators for the project, which includes many African performers and producers to reflect the film’s African setting. “It was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers,” said Beyoncé. “Authenticity and heart were important to me.”

The album includes Nigerian pop stars Tiwa Savage and Mr Eazi, Nigerian artist Burna Boy (who has a solo track), Cameroonian singer Salatiel, along with South Africa’s Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly.

Elsewhere on the album, Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Childish Gambino (who plays Simba in the film), Pharrell and Bey’s daughter Blue Ivy all feature across the album’s 14 tracks, along with rappers Tierra Whack and 070 Shake.

“Each song was written to reflect the film’s storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery, while listening to a new contemporary interpretation,” said Bey about the album, adding that it’s influenced by everything from R&B, pop, hip-hop and Afro Beat.
