Here Are The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees For 2017

UPDATE 21/12/16: The 2017 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees have now been announced.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has unveiled the nominees for its class of 2017.

Voting is now open to the public, who will help decide which of the shortlisted outfits will make the list of influential musicians. It’s not going to be an easy vote though; this year’s nominees include the likes of Pearl Jam, Bad Brains, 2pac, Janet Jackson, Jane’s Addiction and Journey.

Other nominees who made the cut include Kraftwerk, Chic, Chaka Khan, The Cars, Joan Baez, MC5, Yes, The Zombies, J. Gelis Band and Steppenwolf. You can check out the full list of nominees, below.

The top five vote-getters, as determined by a group of artists, historians, and music industry members, will be announced in December, before being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in April 2017.

In 2017, the Rock Hall of Fame will honour specific members of each act, and not always full lineups. Of the five drummers who have played with Pearl Jam, only current drummer Matt Cameron and founding member Dave Krusen are eligible. The process might also make sure the Rock Hall isn’t hit with any lawsuits by jaded former members again.

In order to have made the list, potential nomineess must have released their first album at least 25 years ago. This year, N.W.A, Cheap Trick, Chicago, Deep Purple and Steve Miller were all inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
