UPDATE: Here’s When Splendour In The Grass’ 2018 Lineup Will Drop
ORIGINAL STORY: Splendour In The Grass lineup rumours have been dribbling out for a few weeks now, and we just got our latest hint at who could be heading to Australia this year to perform at the Byron Bay festival.
Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival (which often shares a number of acts with Splendour) has already given us a glimpse of who we’ll potentially see at Splendour 2018, and it’s just added a bunch of new acts to its roster, including some who would sit pretty nicely on Splendour’s roster.
Most of the 12 new acts Fuji Rock announced today are Japanese acts, however, there are also some well-known Americans in the form of slacker hero Mac DeMarco, indie artist David Longstreth (AKA Dirty Projectors) and producer extraordinaire Jon Hopkins.
None of those three are strangers to Australia’s festival scene, and all of them have enough space in their touring schedules for a trip down under, so here’s hoping at least one of them makes it onto the Splendour lineup.
Fuji Rock’s first lineup announcement for 2018 included the likes of Kendrick Lamar, N.E.R.D, CHVRCHES, Vampire Weekend and MGMT, also putting them in the running for a trip to Australia.
The Wombats have already confirmed they are “definitely” performing at Splendour this year, while the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys and Superorganism are also rumoured.
Earlier this week, Splendour organisers also revealed the lineup for their upcoming South By Southwest party in Austin, Texas, which could hint at which rising acts they’ve currently got their eyes on.
Check out the Fuji Rock lineup (as it stands) down below, alongside some band we can already rule out of Splendour.
