Let’s face it, the most important part of any New Year’s Eve festival is the countdown, which is something the organisers of Beyond The Valley are well aware of. That’s why when it came time to pick which band off their impressive 2016 line-up would be ushering punters into the New Year, they made the only choice any self respecting party planners could: Sticky Fingers.
Following on from last year’s epic year-ending party with Flight Facilities, the Sydney ensemble of high life loving reggae rockers are the perfect choice to take over the festival’s Lardner Park, Warragul site for 2016’s final night.
Speaking of the band’s selection for the countdown slot, Beyond The Valley’s Nick Greco said: “The countdown is the biggest part of BTV, and working out which act is going to deliver that moment is a huge decision! Rufus and Flight Facilities have held that spot previously and Stickies are helping us continue the tradition of having marquee Australian talent counting in the New Year – they have some crazy things in store!”
Forming in 2012, and bonding over a shared love of music and wacky tobacky, Sticky Fingers have gone on to become one of the countries leading musical exports. How they managed to do that while sporting almost constant collective hangovers is anyone’s guess.
With their first two albums being heaped with critical and commercial success, the boys have been riding high since they released their debut Caress Your Soul in 2013, touring the world and playing to sold out audiences at home and abroad. Renowned for their relentless touring schedule, their live show is unrivaled in its drunken excesses and just sheer amount of party, making them a no-brainer to help you see in the New Year at Beyond The Valley.
