Since voting opened on Monday morning this week, people from across the word have been fumbling over their shortlists for Triple J‘s Hottest 100 2019 to make sure their fave makes the countdown. Now, prediction site 100 Warm Tunas has officially opened and their current forecast may surprise you.
The website sees Nicholas Whyte put votes shared on social media through an algorithm that tallies all the votes for any particular track, and updates a few times a day.
At the time of writing, the website has Denzel Curry‘s colossal ‘Like A Version’ cover of Rage Against The Machine’s ‘Bulls On Parade’ taking the top spot. If this were to happen, it would be the first time ever the countdown was topped by a LAV cover, breaking the record set by DMAs a few years ago with their cover of Cher’s ‘Believe’.
Not long behind him are Billie Eilish’s ‘bad guy’ are G Flip’s ‘Drink Too Much’, which makes sense seeing as those two artists hold the #1 and #2 spot respectively on Triple J‘s 2019 album poll.
The top 10, at the moment, is full of women with Tones And I’s ‘Dance Monkey’, Thelma Plum’s ‘Better In Blak’, Mallrat’s ‘Charlie’ and Vera Blue with her feature on Flume’s ‘Rushing Back’ all featuring. Other tracks include FIDLAR’s ‘By Myself’ and two Ruel tracks – ‘Painkiller’ and ‘Face To Face’.
Just missing out on the top 10 is Lizzo’s ‘Juice’ coming in at #11 and The Chats’ ‘Pub Feed’ coming in at #12.
Of course, this is all a guess-timate and is almost completely speculative, with the final result likely being very different from what the site shows now.
But you can check out the site here, and check out the current top 10 below.
