In Hearts Wake Announce ‘Green Is The New Black’ OST, Share Single

Byron Bay metalcore band In Hearts Wake are taking their new documentary film, Green is the New Blackon a 28-date national tour from August–October 2022. The band have announced details of the film’s official soundtrack, which is due out on Friday, 5th August via UNFD.

Green is the New Black centres on the making of In Hearts Wake’s fifth studio album, 2020’s KaliyugaSpecifically, the film looks at the 100% carbon offset recording process and the band’s transition to a carbon neutral organisation.

More broadly, the film examines the music industry’s relationship to the environment, exploring the responsibilities of professional touring and recording artists and the barriers to making the music industry carbon neutral.

Several new In Hearts Wake songs can be heard throughout the film, all of which will feature on the Green is the New Black soundtrack album. The first taste is ‘W2HA’, which is out now and can be streamed below.

“‘W2HA’ (Welcome to Hell A) was written during my time living in Los Angeles,” said the band’s lead vocalist, Jake Taylor. “I’d never experienced such a disturbing divide between wealth and poverty. The separation was confusing, and the dog-eat-dog hustle mentality didn’t feel right.

“LA was a fragile man-made oasis built on a volatile desert. I experienced a 7.1 magnitude earthquake and then weeks later Malibu went up in flames, raining ash all over the city. For me it was like living in some sort of concrete Hell.”

In Hearts Wake plan to offset 150% of the carbon emissions created by their upcoming tour. Find further tour details here.
