Is This Our First Hint At Who’s Playing Splendour 2015?

Foo Fighters and Muse have been announced atop the first lineup announcement for Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival, which traditionally shares a number of its acts with Splendour In The Grass.

The lineup drop means we can officially begin the 2015 Splendour rumour mill and if we’re going off this first announcement, we could be seeing The Bohicas, Of Monsters and Men, Happy Mondays and more down-under in July.

Fuji Rock Festival takes place on the same weekend as Splendour (July 24 – 26) and has overlapped with the Splendour lineup a number of times in the past. In 2014, the festivals shared acts like Outkast, Lily Allen, Darkside and Kelis while in 2013, Mumford and Sons and Of Monsters and Men played both.

In contrast, last year’s Fuji Rock headliners Franz Ferdinand, Arcade Fire and Jack Johnson didn’t appear on the Splendour bill.

Unfortunately it’s unlikely that Foo Fighters will make the trip to Australia in July as they are already playing stadium dates in the country in February in support of their Sonic Highways LP. Muse haven’t played an Australian festival since they headlined Big Day Out in 2010.

UPDATE 21/03/15: Another round of acts have joined the Fuji Rock 2015 lineup, meaning we have a few more Splendour 2015 contenders. Acts who have joined the Japanese festival lineup include recent Laneway visitor Benjamin Booker and 2011 Splendour attendees The Vaccines.

Also on the lineup is English singer and songwriter Aqualung, Swedish gypsy punk outfit Räfven, Japanese rockers One Ok Rock and more local acts. View the updated festival lineup, below.

UPDATE 06/03/15: There are now more names who have a chance of joining the Splendour In The Grass 2015 lineup. Fuji Rock’s 2015 lineup has expanded, and now includes the likes of Belle And Sebastian, and Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, who are definitely in with a chance to play Splendour In The Grass this year. Kitty, Daisy & Lewis are well and truly due for a visit, whilst Belle And Sebastian toured Australia in January and February this year.

Other new inclusions on the Fuji Rock 2015 lineup include Flume, RL Grime, Rudimental and Wilko Johnson. View the updated festival lineup, below.
