Jack White’s The Dead Weather Announce New Album ‘Dodge & Burn’

Just because Jack White‘s on a gigging hiatus, doesn’t mean he’s stopping the music making business altogether, and now his supergroup project The Dead Weather have announced their much anticipated third album, titled Dodge & Burn.

The supergroup is of course made up of White, Alison Mosshart of The Kills, City and Colour bassist Jack Lawrence and Queens of the Stone Age’s Dean Fertita. The new album will be the band’s first since 2010’s Sea of Cowards and is expected to be released this September through Jack White’s Third Man Records.

The album will include previously released tracks Open Up (That’s Enough), Rough Detective, It’s Just Too Bad, and Buzzkill(er) – songs which have already been released through Third Man’s Vault subscription series – plus eight new songs. Listen to samples of those four tracks below.

“Alison Mosshart, Jack White, Dean Fertita and Jack Lawrence spent their rare and sporadic free moments over the past year recording together in Nashville,” reads a statement from Third Man Records. The statement adds that The Dead Weather “have no plans on touring in support of the record”.

We already knew that White is on a break from the gigging life, when earlier this year the blues rocker announced he would be taking something of an extended sabbatical from touring “for a long period of time”.

A deluxe edition of the album will be available as a release in Third Man’s Vault series. It will include a limited edition Dodge & Burn LP on “Inclement Weather vinyl”, the new Dead Weather 7” and single from Dodge & Burn on yellow vinyl with black debris and a pack of playing cards that features the band as the King, Queen, Jack, and Joker.

Subscriptions for Vault Package #25 are open until July 31st.
