James Blake Reveals He’s Been Working On Frank Ocean’s New Album

What a time to be a music fan. Another surprise album has fallen from a great height today, this time for James Blake who’s graced us with his brand new album The Colour In Everything. A quick look under the hood of the album, and there are even more surprises.

Not only is there a collaboration with the great Bon Iver, there’s a writing credit from the mysterious Frank Ocean who vanished as quickly as he appeared. Ocean’s forthcoming album, the follow up to Channel Orange has been in the oven for so long now, with no updates, no singles no nothing! Until now.

Speaking about his album with Pitckfork, Blake mentioned a blossoming friendship between himself and Ocean:

“Frank was a huge inspiration for this record: his process, the way he writes, the strength of what he does, who he is. We became very good friends.”

Blake explains that upon working with Ocean and his team, he learned some serious lessons that resulted in his own album. Including: “The first lesson in producing, to let go…Frank’s vision was the only thing that mattered, at the end of the day.”

Ever the class act, Blake doesn’t give too much away, instead offering a bit of confidence to Ocean fans who’ve been waiting with bated breath since 2012.

“He is onto something, he really is.”

In that matter, so is James Blake. Stream his brand new masterpiece here below.
