Jennifer Lopez & Shakira Are Performing At Next Year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show

Earlier this month rumours started flying around that Jennifer Lopez would be next year’s Super Bowl halftime performer. Then, overnight she tweeted “This is happening. 02.02.20”.

It’s not just J.Lo performing though. Fellow early-2000s icon, Shakira is set to join her.

Announcing the news via Twitter, J.Lo tweeted a photo alongside her “this is happening” caption. It’s a photo of Shakira sporting a golden Pepsi arm cuff and a super blingy ring with the 02.02.20 date on it.

At the same moment, Shakira tweeted “Get ready 02.02.20”, with a photo of J.Lo. J.Lo is also, of course, decked out in Pepsi sponsoring: a ring and massive belt buckle.

J.Lo also ‘grammed a pic of the pair together, saying “Going to set the world on [fire]”. We can’t wait.

Official sponsor, Pepsi and the NFL confirmed the news shortly after. Pepsi said in a statement, “Throughout the years, Pepsi has had a strong heritage in music, working with a range of artists from Britney Spears to Ray Charles to Beyoncé. The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show has become one of the most iconic and anticipated music performances of the year, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Jennifer Lopez and Shakira to the stage.”

Pepsi’s marketing VP, Todd Kaplan said, “These two remarkable artists are setting a new precedent for what this show can become, and we’re confident that this will be an incredible performance for the ages.”

They’ll be joining Beyoncé, Madonna, Maroon 5, and Travis Scott in the Super Bowl Halftime Show alumni.
