Joey Belladonna singing on nearly completed Anthrax album

Speaking to Artisan News Service, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian has stated that the work on the new Anthrax album is almost completed, also letting slip the band have brought back Joey Belladonna to sing on it.

“We’re almost ready to go. Eight things are recorded and we’ve only got to go back and re-record two or three things. And Joey [Belladonna] is singing on all of it.”

Despite work on the album having begun with Dan Nelson providing vocals, Nelson was soon shoved off in favour of Belladonna. Ian explains. “When we first got the call about the big four that’s when the wheels got spinning about asking Joey to come back into the band… The Joey Belladonna Anthrax is the band that I think of when I think of the big four. I think of the Among The Living record, I think of the 86/87 time period. So it just made sense.”

The album is said to be titled Worship Music and is rumoured to feature covers of Refused’s New Noise and Alice In ChainsWe Die Young. It will be the first album recorded with Belladonna since 1990.
