Kanye West Is Selling $30 Tickets To The Premiere Of His ‘Famous’ Video

Charging for tickets to concerts and even live streams of concerts is standard but Kanye West has found another way of getting fans to reach into their pockets, by selling tickets to a video premiere.

By video we mean music video which indeed means Kanye is asking fans to pay $30 ($USD25) to head along to a premiere for the clip for Famous.

The event for the “groundbreaking video” is going down at the 17,500 capacity Forum in Los Angeles tomorrow. Exclusive new merchandise created for the event will be on sale but at this point that looks like the only thing distinguishing it from just being a music video premiere.

While this is the first ticketed event, Kanye has a history of premiering his videos in weird and wonderful ways. His Steve McQueen-directed video for All Day was screened at Los Angeles County Museum of Art while New Slaves was projected onto various buildings around the world.

If you can’t make it to the premiere or don’t want to pay the price, you can sign up for a TIDAL account which will probably cost you just as much. The whole event is being streamed there at 7am Saturday morning AEST.

Earlier in the year Kanye streamed his album premiere and Yeezy Season 3 fashion show at Madison Square Garden in cinemas all around the world and aired it on TIDAL.

If you’re not keen on signing up to TIDAL or flying to LA you can watch Aziz Ansari’s excellent unofficial video for the track below.
