Kanye West Says New Album Isn’t Actually “The Best Album Of All Time”

Kanye West has eaten a few crumbs of humble pie over his highly-anticipated new album, clarifying his statement that the record is “the best album of all time”.

In late January, before he changed the name of his new album to WAVES, Kanye took to Twitter to say he was “so happy to be finished with the best album of all time,” before later adding, “This is not album of the year. This is album of the life.”

Today, Yeezy has explained why, in fact, the album isn’t “the best album of all time”, and it’s all because of the legacies of his “idols”, including the likes of Q-Tip, Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix and Marvin Gaye. Posting to Twitter, Kanye says:

So while WAVES is no longer destined to be the “album of the life” (whatever that means), Kanye reckons it will still be up there with the rest of them.

What Kanye might be less certain about is the album’s title, despite having already changed it at least two times. Yesterday, Ye’s wife Kim Kardashian took to Twitter to ask her followers to vote on which of Kanye’s album titles they like the best, and her poll presented an unlikely winner after collecting almost 440,000 votes.

Whatever Kanye decides to name “one of” the greatest albums of all time, the record is set to make its Australian premier in select theatres later this month.
