Kanye West has dropped new single ‘Wash Us in the Blood’ overnight, the first taste of his forthcoming album God’s Country.

The Travis Scott-featuring track, mixed by Dr. Dre, comes accompanied by visuals from previous collaborator Arthur Jafa which includes footage from recent protests and ends with footage from West’s Sunday Service rehearsals.

West teased the new song on Twitter yesterday.

‘Wash Us in the Blood’ is the first new music from Yeezy since last year’s gospel-tinged God Is King and its accompanying Sunday Service album Jesus Is Born. 2018 saw him release two albums, a solo record titled ye and another with his Kids See Ghosts project with Kid Cudi.

Back in April, West spoke about new music in a wide-ranging interview with GQ. In the interview, the rapper talks about how he was inspired to start “rapping for God” after one of his pastors approached him and said, “My son just said that he would want a rap album Jesus from Kanye West.”

“He didn’t say, ‘Kanye West, you should do this,’ or ‘you need to do this.’ He just told me something that a child said. And that one thing made the difference.

West has recently announced a number of new projects on Twitter. Last week, the rapper shared the news he had formed a partnership with clothing retailer Gap, and also teased an animated Kids See Ghosts series.

West is yet to announce a release date for God’s Country.
