Kanye West Announces New Album ‘DONDA 2’, Out Next Month

The rumours were true and Kanye West is releasing a sequel to last year’s DONDA. Ye’s tenth album, DONDA, came out in August 2021.

Atlanta musician and mumble rapper par excellence Future executed produced the new album, which is titled DONDA 2. Ye has named Saturday, 22nd February as the album’s provisional release date (that’s 22/2/22 for those playing at home).

Ye made the announcement on his Instagram page, but the album’s existence was all but confirmed by Universal Music Group A&R official, Steven Victor, in the early days of the year.

“Ye has started working on his new masterpiece DONDA 2,” Victor said in a statement to Complex.

A clip of Ye in the studio with Houston rapper Scarface surfaced in the days after Christmas. Midway through January, Ye released the single ‘Eazy’, a collaboration with his frequent sparring partner The Game. ‘Eazy’ was co-produced by DJ Premier, Wack 100, DONTMINDIFIDUKE, MIKE DEAN and Hit-Boy and is rooted in a sample of Eazy-E’s ‘Eazy-Duz-It’.

Ye’s verse includes references to his narcissism, arrogance and pending divorce from Kim Kardashian. “We havin’ the best divorce ever / If we go to court, we’ll go to court together,” he raps, before turning his attention to Kardashian’s new love interest, comedian Pete Davidson. “God saved me from that crash / Just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s ass (Who?).”

Stay tuned for more updates on DONDA 2.
