Kaytranada Says Pop Star/EDM Collabs Are Like “Boiled Chicken With No Seasoning”

Not someone who normally spends much time getting into Twitter-based arguments, Haitian-Canadian musician Kaytranada has taken to Twitter to call out pop star/EDM DJ collabs for being boring and bland.

Ahead of his October tour of Australia and New Zealand, Kaytranada started out a series of tweets by likening them to “boiled chicken without the seasoning”, before going on to clarify that musically, collaborations between pop stars and big EDM DJs haven’t evolved since 2011.

After a number of followers suggested that he was targeting Rihanna and Calvin Harris for their recent release This Is What You Came For, Kaytranada insisted he wasn’t “hating on Rihanna” because he recently did a remix of her track Kiss It Better.

“All im saying is that it wouldve been much cooler to see someone on the comeup collaborating w/ them instead of doing the same thing,” he goes on to say. “Get down with them new and unqiue things, that’s all I’m saying”.

He wrapped up the series of tweets by saying “Boiled chicken is not entirely bad, it just need some seasoning ;)”

Kaytranada will be returning once again to Australia for a run of tour dates this October, to showcase his newly released album 99.9% which features the likes of Aluna George, Little Dragon, Vic Mensa, Syd from The Internet and Craig David. See those below.
