Kesha Cancels Bluesfest Appearance, Postpones 2018 Australian Tour

UPDATE: Kesha Announces Rescheduled 2018 Tour Dates

ORIGINAL STORY: Kesha has cancelled her scheduled headline appearance at Bluesfest 2018, and has postponed her upcoming Australian tour after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her knee.

Kesha suffered the injury after falling during a concert in Dubai on 9th February, and is going into surgery today before undergoing rehabilitation.

“It’s my biggest joy in life to share my music with my fans all over the world, but I have to follow my doctors orders and undergo surgery so I can get ready to give it my all on my summer tour and beyond,” she says.

“Moving these dates is making me sick with sadness, but I tried to will this injury away and unfortunately it didn’t work. I love you all and I’ll work every single day, as hard as I can, to recover and get back on stage as soon as possible. I’m so sorry and sending love always.”

Kesha’s seven-date Australian tour was scheduled to begin in March, with shows in Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne.

Ticket-holders are being encouraged to hold on to their tickets and stay tuned for information about rescheduled shows, which organisers say “will be announced in the near future”. All existing tickets will be valid for the new shows.

Kesha’s Bluesfest appearance, however, cannot be rescheduled, which means she will no longer be appearing at the festival. Bluesfest organisers are yet to issue a statement.

UPDATE: Bluesfest has now released a statement, saying:

“It’s with a broken heart that we have to announce Kesha will no longer be performing at Bluesfest 2018. She has sustained a serious ACL injury and is undergoing surgery today. She won’t be recovered in time to make it to Byron Bay. We send her all the best for a speedy recovery.”
