The brothers Kora return to Australia in April for four shows along the East Coast of Australia as well as an appearance at the West Coast Blues ‘n’ Roots Music Festival. Their recent trip saw them sell out shows in Perth and QLD’s Sunshine Coast, their first visits to both places.
Kora will be heading into the studio in May and June 2009 to record their follow up LP to the Award winning, self-titled debut, Kora.
UK Electronica legends Cabaret Voltaire got together before Christmas to remix seven tracks off the Kora album for a worldwide release titled Kora! Kora! Kora! Forged in Sheffield, England, Kora! Kora! Kora! is a cut-up and clubbed-to-pieces collage of key cuts from the platinum-selling album by Maori dub phenomenon, Kora.
The soulful vocals of Kora have been mined from their lustrous debut album and married by shotgun and evil preacher to a blizzard of industrial electronics and factory funk. Early Howie B, old school Kraftwerk or an underground Depeche Mode, the British press have been unanimous in declaring this album an unequivocal, surrealist masterpiece.
The musical collage lives on. Richard H Kirk, Cabaret Voltaire’s originator, saw Kora live, was completely gob-smacked by the sheer intensity of the Kora show and immediately offered to apply the Cabaret Voltaire effect
