Melbourne-based neo-soul singer KYE has released her debut EP, Good Company, which includes collaborations with Sampa the Great, Jacob Farah, 18YOMAN and Touch Sensitive.
KYE is the project of Zimbabwe-born, Melbourne-based musician Kylie Chirunga. Chirunga launched the KYE project a little over two years ago with the single ‘Good Company’. After attracting interest from triple j and Sony Music, KYE consolidated her vision for the project with help from producers and co-writers, Billy Davis, 18YOMAN, Ben Oldland. and Styalz Fuego
KYE has shared several singles from the release already, including the Sampa collab ‘Gold’. KYE was a member of Sampa’s live band on the tour behind Sampa’s debut LP The Return. KYE has also performed with the likes of Genesis Owusu and appeared on tracks by Billy Davis and Slum Sociable.
KYE’s latest single, ‘Finest Quality’, features production from Michael Di Francesco, aka Touch Sensitive, who adds his trademark disco groove to the track. Di Francesco is known for his work with artists such as Genesis Owusu, Ladyhawke, The Presets and Van She.
KYE will celebrate the EP’s release with a headline date at Melbourne’s Chapel Off Chapel on Sunday, 5th December. She’s also locked in for day two of Beyond the City, which takes over Sydney Myer Music Bowl and Kings Domain on Thursday, 30th and Friday, 31st December.
