Milne reportedly wanted to book the legendary pop star for an ad campaign worth around $3 million, according to Fairfax Media. What’s more is that $750,000 of that amount would have supposedly been required just to book Minogue.
This is important because the ABC’s ousted former Managing Director, Michelle Guthrie, reportedly shut down the Kylie idea because of the huge booking fee, and Milne reportedly went behind her back to give the campaign, and particularly the booking of Minogue, a go-ahead anyway. This all only adds to the tension which apparently has been rife atop the ABC for yonks.
When asked about the ill-fated campaign, Milne told Fairfax “it wasn’t (his) idea.”
“An emotional campaign with Kylie singing a song … I thought that could be cool,” he said.

ICYMI, the ABC has pretty much been in shambles over the past fortnight, with Guthrie being sacked just days before Milne resigned over an email scandal.
It might be for the best, though; Milne reportedly tried to stop triple j from changing the date of its Hottest 100 countdown, despite the majority of listeners stating they wanted the date changed.
Triple j‘s annual countdown will now be held on the fourth weekend of every January, which in 2019 might provide a bit of a sticky situation because, well, 26th January lies on that fourth weekend.
The station is yet to announce the dates of its Hottest 100 of 2018.
