Lady Gaga, Alana Haim, Beyoncé Nominated For Golden Globe Awards

The nominess for the 2022 Golden Globe Awards have been announced. The nominees were read out in a livestream hosted by Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Helen Hoehne and Snoop Dogg.

Snoop’s presence presages a big year for musicians at the Golden Globes. Lady Gaga is up for Best Performance By An Actress In A Motion Picture – Drama for her role as Patrizia Reggiani in Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci. HAIM’s Alana Haim is up for Best Performance By An Actress In A Motion Picture – Musical Or Comedy for her starring role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s new flick, Licorice Pizza.

The music-centric film tick, tick…BOOM! is nominated for Best Picture – Musical/Comedy and its star, Andrew Garfield, is up for Best Actor – Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy. Andrew Ramos is also up for Best Actor – Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy for his performance in the film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights.

The nominees for Best Original Score include Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood (The Power Of The Dog) along with Alexandre Desplat (The French Dispatch), Germaine Franco (Encanto), Alberto Iglesias (Parallel Mothers) and Hans Zimmer (Dune).

Best Original Song will be a contest between Beyonce’s ‘Be Alive’ (from King Richard, starring the great rapper Will Smith), Lin-Manuel Miranda’s ‘Dos Oruguitas’ (from Encanto), Van Morrison’s ‘Down To Joy’ (Belfast), ‘Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)’ written by Carole King, Jennifer Hudson and Jamie Hartman for the Aretha Franklin biopic, Respect, and Billie Eilish’s 007 title song, ‘No Time to Die’.

Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast and Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog tied for most nominations, with seven a piece. Succession led the television categories with five nominations, ahead of Ted Lasso with four. Check out the complete list of nominees here.
