The Oscars are fewer than two months away. All the nominees have now been announced.

Several musicians are up for Academy Awards this year, including The Roots’ Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, whose début film, Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised), is nominated for Best Documentary (Feature). The Questlove-directed film uses archival footage to tell the story of the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival.

Beyoncé, Van Morrison and Billie Eilish are all in contention for Best Original Song. Eilish’s Bond theme, ‘No Time to Die’, won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song earlier this year. Here is the complete list of Original Song nominees:

  • Beyoncé – ‘Be Alive’ (King Richard)
  • Sebastián Yatra – ‘Dos Oruguitas’ (Encanto)
  • Van Morrison – ‘Down to Joy’ (Belfast)
  • Billie Eilish – ‘No Time to Die’ (No Time to Die)
  • Reba McEntire – ‘Somehow You Do’ (Four Good Days)

Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood composed the score for three major 2021 releases: Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza, Pablo Larraín’s Spencer and Jane Campion’s The Power Of the Dog. Both Licorice Pizza and The Power of the Dog are up for Best Picture, while Greenwood’s Power of the Dog score is also nominated. Here are all the Original Score nominees:

  • Nicholas Britell – Don’t Look Up
  • Hans Zimmer – Dune
  • Germaine Franco – Encanto

  • Jonny Greenwood – The Power of the Dog

The 2022 Academy Awards will be handed out at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre on Sunday, 27th March 2022.
