Some people can’t take a joke. Then again, if you were depicted as having a Parktown Prawn (thanks Music Feeds reader Mark) extracted from your nether regions, you might be a little upset as well. That’s exactly the kind of nuttiness that has Lady Gaga in a huff after Die Antwoord parodied the pop diva in their new music video for current single Fatty Boom Boom.
As reported by Music Feeds, the off-beat South African rap-raver’s latest clip features an impersonation of Lady Gaga, who suffers from not only the aforementioned indignity but is also eaten by a lion before song’s end. The ‘beef’ between Die Antwoord and Lady Gaga seemingly began after Yo-Landi Vi$$er and Ninja rejected an offer to open for Gaga. When broached on the subject by MTV, Ninja didn’t mince his words in explaining why Die Antwoord passed on the opportunity.
“We like making pop music, and like hardcore music at the same time, mixing them, but it’s got, like, soul… It’s not like weak, superficial shit. You know?,” Ninja told MTV.
The clip for Fatty Boom Boom spread across the Internet like wildfire and inevitably made its way to Lady Gaga. None too pleased with the fictitious images of herself, Gaga took to her Twitter account to address Die Antwoord.
Taking the ‘mine is bigger then yours’ approach, Gaga boasted that, “i fink u freaky but you don’t have a hit. hundred thousand tIckets sold in SA.” followed by the hashtag #thatmyshit.
Die Antwoord naturally responded in kind tweeting, “lady… even tho u r ‘larger’ than us… we still cooler than u… plus we don’t have prawns in our private…”
Gaga seemed to have the final word with one more post that reads, “guess its not a good idea to tell someone you’re a fan. never mind! we get it, you’re not a little monster. WE GOT IT.”
So far there has been no retaliation from The Black Eyed Peas as yet, who feature in the clip by way of some street art that shows the BEPs as being defecated out by a two headed cat with the faces of Nicki Minaj and Kanye West.
