Last week, Lana Del Rey released her hotly-anticipated sixth studio album Norman Fucking Rockwell, but if you think that’s slowing her down from working on its follow-up, think again.
Del Ray told UK’s The Times that she’s already begun working on album number seven, tentatively titled White Hot Forever, and aims to release it sometime next year.
“I’ve already written parts of it,” she said. “I feel like it probably will be a surprise release sometime within the 12 or 13 months.
“I’m really excited right now. I don’t want to take a break.”
Del Rey was relatively tight-lipped on other details concerning White Hot Forever. In other parts of the interview, she spoke about her part in paving the way for artists who write with more openness and sincerity, particularly around sadness.
“The culture is catching up to how people really are. People aren’t always cheerful 24/7. They have losses and things they go through things. I like to think I had a part in it, in opening that door for a little bit more . . . thoughtfulness,” said Del Rey.
