Here’s more true home-grown talent. The somewhat controversial Kirin J Callinan enjoys cross-dressing, staring deeply into the souls of his audience with dark cross-room gazes and destroying his guitar with a plethora of effects. Nonetheless, Kirin’s debut album Embracism is already one of 2013’s most refreshing records, dabbling in industrial rock, electronica, stadium rock and even some Springsteen-fanboying. His contagious melodrama caught our ear at FBi’s 10th Birthday Party this year, but we’re yet to catch a full set. Can’t wait.
