‘Last Night’ Purple Sneakers, Friday July 29th

Who needs an overpriced ticket to a festival far far away to really party hard? Do you actually want to sport gum boots and singlets on a Friday night? We here at LAST NIGHT think you deserve a party worthy of dressing up for. One without a dirt floor, without shirtless festival goes wearing zinc at night chugging from funnels. OK, so the chugging doesn’t sound so bad – but I’ll have a $4 KB can over an $8 mid strength Coopers any day!

To deck the dance floor with you fine things on July 29th, we have DR DON DON as the main course on our menu. The critically acclaimed hip hop producer better known as CHASM has wrangled together elements of dance, hip hop and electro to bring us undoubtedly the catchiest song of 2011 – King of the Stars. If you haven’t heard it thrashed on Triple J, in TV ads or on dance floors around the country, you’ll get to experience it in the flesh as the man himself brings his own brand of party to Last Night.

Our entrée for this particular evening comes in the form of Melbourne hell-raisers HEY FEVER. They’re touring the country with their new EP Codes, and their percussion heavy brand of rock’n’roll will be sure to wet your appetite.

The nibbles with which to start the night are no less than local heroes BHANGLASSI. Their layers of jangly pop; mouth organs, acoustic guitars and tight-as rhythm section are a more than adequate aperitif. Our mouths have been watering to see them hit the Last Night stage, so bring on Friday I say!

As if you hadn’t already consumed enough delicious music, we’ll be providing a dessert of DJs to keep you gorging deep into the night. To lead we have none other than the delectable RANDALL STAGG to meet our sweet-toothed needs, with JOSH KELLY bringing along the whipped cream and MINOU providing the cherry.
