Listen: Iggy And The Stooges’ New Single ‘Burn’

Iggy and The Stooges are probably older than your parents, but that doesn’t mean that the trailblazers of punk rock are trading in their attitude and guitars for bingo and walking sticks. With new album Ready to Die due out in April, The Stooges have released lead single Burn.

Although the album title seems more a statement of fact than rebellion at the band’s advanced age, Burn shows that The Stooges aren’t ready to keel over just yet. Like any band that made important music in their prime, The Stooges’ new material will mostly be judged against past innovations.

However, on its own merit Burn isn’t just impressive for a band of (mostly) 60-year-olds, but really a band for any age, with the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll tangled in the single’s fuzzy haze and Iggy’s potent croon.

Despite The Stooges’ self-titled debut album coming out in 1969, Ready to Die is only the fifth studio album from the band, and the follow-up to 2007’s heavily panned reunion album The Weirdness. Australian fans can expect Ready to Die to be released on Friday, 26th April.
