Listen To Phoebe Bridgers Cover ‘First Day Of My Life’ By Bright Eyes

Phoebe Bridgers has covered her bandmate Conor Oberst for the second time, releasing a gorgeous cover of Bright Eyes‘ classic ‘First Day of My Life’ as part of Deezer’s Home Sessions series. The original comes from the indie rock group’s seminal 2005 album I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning.

Earlier this year, Bridgers took to Instagram to share her rendition of Oberst’s 2016 Ruminations cut ‘Mamah Borthwick (A Sketch)’.

Bridgers and Oberst became bandmates back in 2018 when they teamed up for their Better Oblivion Community Center project. The duo released their eponymous debut album in January of last year.

Bridgers is currently getting ready to release her second album Punisher in a couple of weeks, with the follow-up to 2017’s Stranger in the Alps due Friday, 19th June via Dead Oceans. She’s released a trio of singles thus far – ‘I See You’, ‘Kyoto’ and ‘Garden Song’.

Bridgers was scheduled to visit Australia back in March as main support for The National‘s tour dates here. Those dates – with Bridgers included – have been rescheduled for December due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, Bright Eyes are getting ready to release their first album in nearly a decade.
