Lizzo Is Releasing Her First Single In Two Years Next Week

Lizzo has announced her first new single in more than two years. The song, ‘Rumors’, will arrive on Friday, August 13th.

It’s Lizzo’s first new music since her third album, Cuz I Love You, came out in April 2019. Details of a fourth album are yet to materialise.

Lizzo ruled 2019. ‘Juice’, the first single from Cuz I Love You, came out on January 4th, 2019, and the rest of the year was hers. The album ignited waves of interest in the artist’s back catalogue, with the earlier singles ‘Truth Hurts’ and ‘Good As Hell’ both reaching the US Billboard Top 10 several years after their initial release. ‘Truth Hurts’ made it all the way to number one and set up Lizzo to be the most-nominated artist at the 2020 Grammy Awards.

She ended up taking home three Grammys: Cuz I Love You was named Best Urban Contemporary Album while ‘Truth Hurts’ won Best Pop Solo Performance and ‘Jerome’ was awarded Best Traditional R&B Performance.

Lizzo also joined Charli XCX on the track, ‘Blame it on Your Love’, from the latter’s critically vaunted album, Charli. Cuz I Love You, for its part, included guest appearances from Missy Elliott and Gucci Mane. In early 2020, Lizzo ignited a mutually-adoring friendship with Harry Styles, covering each other’s songs and eventually singing together on stage.
