Madonna has taken to Instagram to defend claims that she was drunk and high while on stage here in Australia.
The singer who is currently touring here for the first time since 1993 on her Rebel Heart tour reportedly had a meltdown during her intimate Tears Of A Clown show at the Forum Theatre in Melbourne.
Britain’s The Sun reports that she asked for someone to “fuck” her and chugged booze onstage. “Somebody take care of me, please. Who is going to take care of me,” she later said.
On Instagram today she screenshotted a comment from a fan who was defending her on Facebook and thanked all her fans for supporting her.
“Too bad people don’t know the art of acting and playing a character,” she wrote.
“And yes underlying all of this is sexism and misogyny which proves that not only do we not get equal pay but we are still treated like heretics if we step out of line and think outside the box.”
To be fair, the Tears Of A Clown show was intended to be a special one-off performance for Melbourne combining comedy, music and performance where Madonna, for the most part, was playing a comical character.
Madge finished her Instagram post by saying that “sexism is alive and kicking” but she is “#livingforlove” which is also the name of her first single from the latest record Rebel Heart.
The legendary singer is currently locked in a custody battle for her 15 year-old son Rocco with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie and has been openly emotional about it during the shows. During her intimate Melbourne show she dedicated a song to her son and had a photo of him projected behind her.
