Mariah Carey Has Finally Ended Tones And I’s Reign Over The ARIA Singles Chart

After an unprecedented 21 weeks atop the ARIA Singles Chart (that’s just five weeks off half a year), Tones And I‘s ‘Dance Monkey’ has been knocked off the #1 spot by Mariah Carey‘s immortal Christmas hit ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You.’

Tones And I set the record for the longest running ARIA #1 of all time when she pipped Ed Sheeran’s record a few weeks ago. ‘Dance Monkey’ has caused a whirlwind of fame and success for Tones, having topped the charts in the UK and cracking the top 10 in the US, being the first Aussie female in three years to do so.

Mariah Carey, however, seems to be enjoying more success due to ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ with each passing year. Despite being released 25 years ago (!), it topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time this month.

On top of that, 2019 marks the second year in a row it has topped the ARIA Charts, with 2018 actually the first year it topped the chart at all, having peaked at #2 during 1994, the year it was released.
