Marko Hietala and Tarja Turunen have come up with a collaborative new single “Left On Mars” which was released on the 13th of March via Nuclear Blast Records.
This single is also accompanied by a music video, the song takes inspiration from a tale that talks about love and longing. This piece of ballad is a mixture of Marko Hietala’s lyrics and powerful riff and Tarja’s amazing vocals, which makes the song more special for their fans.

Marko Hietala about the song via a press release statement: “A love song to my wife which ends up uniting two old friends. Even if the song itself sucked, I would be pleased about the result!”
Marko’ Hietala’s guitarist and album producer Tuomas Wäinölä remembers hearing the song for the first time at Marko’s place in Kuopio. He felt that it was a strong song. They both agreed that it should be a duet. ” It was a strong one immediately. I think Marko had the idea of it being a duet too, straight from the beginning”.
Tuomas further said. “After that it was just a matter of grinding and demoing it well. The fun part was taking the song to Switzerland on an USB drive, like proper agents! We had this secret meeting when we had a Pratteln Outdoor gig with Tarja, both playing our own sets. And yeah, it was great to see them together on stage and finally singing the same tune again!”
From the making of the song to the final tune, every moment of ‘Left on Mars’ shows passion and creativity.
