Eric Carmen, ‘All By Myself’ Singer and Raspberries Frontman, Dies at 74

American singer-songwriter and guitarist Eric Carmen, known for hits like “Hungry Eyes” and “All by Myself,” passed away at 74 on March 11, as confirmed by his wife. However, the cause of his death hasn’t been disclosed and remains unclear.

Eric Carmen’s wife, Amy Carmen shared that he peacefully passed away in his sleep over the weekend. In a heartfelt statement on Carmen’s official website, she expressed deep sadness over the loss and asked for privacy as the family grieves.

“It is with tremendous sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen. Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep, over the weekend. It brought him great joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy. Please respect the family’s privacy as we mourn our enormous loss Love Is All That Matters…Faithful and Forever,” wrote Amy Carmen.

Eric Carmen rose to fame as the lead singer of the pop band Raspberries before embarking on a successful solo career in the 1970s and 1980s. The band’s resurgence came in 2014 when their hit song “Go All the Way” was featured in the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack.

Eric Carmen’s solo career flourished with hits like “All by Myself” and “Never Gonna Fall in Love Again” in the 1970s. He continued to make waves into the 1980s with songs like “Hungry Eyes” from Dirty Dancing and “Almost Paradise” from Footloose.

Tributes poured in from fellow musicians, including Slash, upon hearing the news of Carmen’s passing. David Spero, Carmen’s manager, also expressed his grief, highlighting Carmen’s global influence as a songwriter, with his songs covered by artists ranging from Celine Dion to Hank Williams Jr.
