Media Agency Claims Responsibility For Virgin Australia’s “Kanye West Eat A Dick” Tweet

Australian media agency Carat has claimed responsibility for a Virgin Australia tweet which told rapper Kanye West to “eat a dick” yesterday. Carat has previously counted Virgin Australia as one of its clients.

Posting (of course) to Twitter, Carat says the tweet in question was “mistakenly posted on Virgin Australia’s account”, but it hasn’t said which account the tweet was meant to be posted on. Carat is yet to respond to Music Feeds’ request for comment, but here’s their tweet claiming responsibility:

Carat’s tweet comes after social media users leapt at the chance to praise Virgin Australia’s accidental Kanye tweet, which the airline said “was not published by a Virgin Australia employee”. Here are just a few examples of how Music Feeds readers reacted to the “EAD” tweet on Facebook:

A spokesperson for Carat has told Mumbrella that the company is “reviewing the appropriate disciplinary action to take against the parties involved”, but the group hasn’t said if that action will involve someone being fired or someone getting a raise.

As for Kanye, he’s probably unaware of all the fuss someone can cause with one honest but totally wayward tweet.
