Members Of Soundgarden, Queens Of The Stone Age & Pearl Jam Have Formed A Supergroup

We’ve had our fair share of supergroups this year – Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp came together for Hollywood Vampires while Faith No More and TV On The Radio members formed Nevermen but this one may be the biggest yet.

Ben Shepard of Soundgarden, Matt Cameron of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, Alain Johannes of Queens Of The Stone Age and Dimitri Coats of OFF! have all put their forces together to form supergroup Ten Commandos.

Johannes took to Instagram to announce the project and further detail that their first single Staring Down The Dust will be released 9th October and will feature Mark Lanegan of the Screaming Trees on vocals. That will then be followed by an album to be released in November via Monkey Wrench records which was founded by members of Pearl Jam.

News of the band surfaced last year when Coats let Billboard in on a “fun little side project” that he was working on.

“I’m going to be singing. Alain’s definitely singing a bit. We might invite a couple of guests at some point,” he said in June of 2014.

“I don’t know if we’re gonna play live or what the deal is. I just know that I really enjoy hanging out with them and I’m learning a lot and we work very quickly; before I even feel like I’ve learned a song it’s like we’re hitting the record button.”

As for what it’s going to sound like he said, “It’s a little bit like Superunknown, that kind of era of Soundgarden, mixed with Alain’s kind of Stevie Wonder vibe.”

We still have no confirmation as to whether or not Ten Commandos will play live shows but at least we have concrete proof that there is a record on the way. Stay tuned for the first single.
