Metallica Pay Tribute To Cliff Burton With Free Download Of 1984 France Concert

Metallica have paid tribute to their late bassist Cliff Burton with a free download of a concert from their Ride The Lightning tour in 1984.

The band have offered the download to mark the 26th anniversary of Burton’s death. He was killed in a bus crash in 1986.

Blabbermouth reports that the band posted a photo of Cliff on their official Facebook page, accompanied by the caption “We miss you”.

They then added: “While you’re remembering Cliff on the 26th anniversary of his passing, give a listen to this free download from the ‘Ride The Lightning’ tour’.

The show is Metallica’s November 22, 1984 concert at Le Riff in Toulouse, France. You can download the concert here.

Burton was best known as a heavy metal bass player who made use of distortion and special effects, and many believe it was Burton’s early influence that helped create Metallica’s unique musical style, for which the band has become famous.

Metallica will be in Australia in February and March next year to headline Soundwave 2013.
