Mike Pinder, the Co-Founder of Moody Blues Dies At 82

The founding member of Moody Blues, Mike Pinder who was also the keyboardist and vocalist of the band passed away on Wednesday, 24th April, at the age of 82. A family member confirmed the news and it was posted on Facebook by John Lodge, another member of Moody Blues. 

“Michael’s family would like to share with his trusted friends and caring fans that he passed peacefully. His final days were filled with music, encircled by the love of his family. Michael lived his life with a childlike wonder, walking a deeply introspective path that fused the mind and the heart. He created his music and the message he shared with the world from this spiritually grounded place. His authentic essence lifted everyone who came into contact with him. His lyrics, philosophy, and vision of humanity and our place in the cosmos will touch generations to come.” read the statement that was shared.

“A natural born musician who could play any style of music with warmth and love. He was a huge part of my own musical journey. My sincere condolences to his loving and devoted family.” mentioned Justin Hayward, another bandmate of Moody Blues. 

The rock and roll band, Moody Blues was formed in May 1964. The founders were Pinder and Ray Thomas who was the vocalist and instrumentalist of the band. The other members included Denny Laine, the guitarist/vocalist for the band, Graeme Edge who was the drummer, and Clint Warwick, the bassist of the band. The band was later joined by Hayward as the Guitarist/vocalist and bassist/vocalist Lodge after Laine and Warwick took their departure in 1966.
