Just days after announcing his appearance at a second, surprise Soulfest sideshow and less than a week after missing the festival’s opening date, Acclaimed US rapper Yasiin Bey, known to most fans as Mos Def, has failed to show up to another Australian show.
The rapper was scheduled to take the stage at around 10pm last night at Brisbane’s Woolly Mammoth, but according to a press release, obtained by TheMusic, Soulfest promoters and venue management were informed by Mos Def at 10.40pm that he would not take the stage as he was “suffering another illness.”
Promoters later clarified that illness was a “sore throat”. The Brisbane show was a surprise addition, with Bey only announcing his appearance earlier this week. It’s his second cancellation of his Australian tour, having missed the Sydney leg of Soulfest after missing a flight.
The rapper made it to the Melbourne Soulfest show and his Perth and Sydney sideshow, for which promoters offered discounted last minute tickets. Read out review of the Sydney show here.
Promoters are offering ticket holders for last night’s Brisbane gig either a full refund or the option of a complimentary tickets for themselves and a friend for entry to the Soulfest event at Brisbane’s Riverstage today.
