Mourners Wear Jeans Backwards In Tribute At Kriss Kross Member’s Funeral

Mourners attending the service of deceased Kriss Kross member Chris Kelly earlier today have worn their jeans backwards in a form of tribute. Backward jeans were a trademark of Kriss Kross, as seen and mentioned in the music video for their multi-platinum hit Jump.

As seen in the photograph below, producer Jermaine Dupri, who discovered Kriss Kross performing in a Atlanta shopping mall in 1990 and went on to produce Jump, wore his denims backwards. American rapper Da Brat also reversed her jeans, according to TMZ, which live-streamed Kelly’s service.

Speaking at the funeral, surviving Kriss Kross member Chris Smith said he deeply missed his friend and promised to honour the memory of Kelly and the legacy of Kriss Kross:

“He was a true friend … I just wanna say I love you man … and I’m gonna miss you dearly.”

“My life… it ain’t ever gonna be the same, but I just hope our legacy for hip hop is never forgotten. I’m gonna do my part to make sure Chris’ legacy will live on.”

Kelly died last week with his body being found, unresponsive, in his Atlanta home. When news of Kelly’s death first broke the cause was unknown but it has since been reported that Kelly died from an overdose resulting from a mixture of cocaine and heroin. Kelly was aged 34.
