Leading members from some of the most prestigious companies operating within this wild West we call the Australian music industry have announced they will be going head to head for the inaugural Música Copa.
Supported by ARIA Week and the Electronic Music Conference (EMC), Música Copa will see teams from Stereosonic, Modular, Future Classic, Ministry of Sound, Sweat It Out, Channel V, FBi Radio, inthemix and the Mushroom Group competing against one another.
Though many of these formidable institutions have collaborated in the past, establishing what we’re sure are very warm and mutually beneficial working relationships, you can expect any form of camaraderie to be thrown out the window come game time. That was business, this is personal.
Organisers understand that industry folk are no where near as aesthetically pleasing as musicians, so a select few have been chosen from bands such as Van She, Canyons, What So Not, Rufus, Movement, Dan Single and Yolanda Be Cool, to get in amongst the action.
Teams will be battling it out tooth and nail to make it to pole position after the games, with the winner choosing which charity the final cash prize will be delivered to. On top of that, they’ll have earned 12 months worth of bragging rights.
Those who come along for the action will be treated to countless laughs, as well as a few cold ones, and a special BBQ happening right at the venue. Of course, this is the music industry, so there’ll also be an after party, and is sure to be off the wall.
