Melbourne and Brisbane are copping a brand new alternative day festival. ‘Converge’ has got tongues wagging, announcing itself on the scene this weekend with a pair of debut East Coast events flagged for this September.
“The festival will be a new cultural experience for heavy music fans, combining live music & alternative culture for an immersive experience,” reads a statement on the event’s official website. “CONVERGE FESTIVAL fills a gap in the market by providing an affordable and exciting mini festival featuring local talent alongside installations from fashion brands, DJ’s & tattoo artists.”
“A brand new alternative day festival experience”
The first event will hit Brisbane’s Brightside on Sunday, 7th September (running off the back of BIGSOUND – interesting!), before moving south to Melbourne’s Max Watts on Sunday, 14th September.
According to intel reported by Wall Of Sound, the event will have a strong focus on local talent and an “old school” approach.
“We are going old school with this,” organisers spilled to the site. “Massive festivals are awesome, but what happened to localised events with a bunch of fun activities to go along with the best alternative music around?”
They’ve teased a lineup announcement happening on triple j some time tomorrow. We’ll update you once we know more, but for now you can sign up to the converge mailing list right here.
