Nick Mason Hopes For Pink Floyd Reunion

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason has revealed he has hopes the band may play together again one day, despite the death from cancer of founding keyboardist Rick Wright in 2008.

Speaking to BBC 6 Music, Mason said he hadn’t ruled out the possibility of the remaining members playing together again, although it remains an ‘unlikely’ prospect and should be done for the ‘right reasons’.

67-year-old Mason said, “No one has said we will never work [together] again.”

However, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up any time soon, it seems.

“I think it is very unlikely we are going to go out on tour. I think Roger’s [Waters] really happy working on his own now… It’s hard to see Dave [Gilmour] thinking he’d really like to work full time with Roger.

“However, I live in hope we would absolutely do another Live 8 or play together for the right reasons,” he added.

Pink Floyd famously reformed to play Live 8 in London in 2005, their first performance as a four-piece in some 24 years, the footage of which you can watch below. The performance turned out to be their last with Wright.

In a strange twist, the remaining three members cancelled another charity concert last year after learning it would take place in the home of politician and former cricketer Imran Khan’s ex-wife, a decision which Mason approved of, saying, “It was felt it would have been entirely wrong to do a relatively small charity gig as Pink Floyd. It would create something that would not be to the benefit of the charity concerned.”
