Nikki Lane Recruits Arctic Monkeys & QOTSA Members For New Album, ‘Denim & Diamonds’

More than five years on from the release of her last album, US country artist Nikki Lane has announced her return, detailing her forthcoming fourth album, Denim & Diamonds, set for release on Friday, 23rd September.

Lane assembled an all-star cast for the creation of Denim & Diamonds, including Queens Of The Stone Age front person Josh Homme, who produced and mixed the album. The 10-track release features a diverse list of musicians, tailored by Homme to help Lane make a gradual transition from a pure country artist to someone who rubs shoulders with the world of rock.

Lane’s all-star band features Homme’s frequent collaborator Alain Johannes on guitar and his Queens of The Stone Age band mates, Dean Fertita on organ and Michael Shuman on bass. Percussion is handled by Matt Helders of the Arctic Monkeys and Carla Azar of Autolux. Denim & Diamonds also features pedal steel player Matthew Pynn, who has worked with the likes of Miley Cyrus and Dwight Yoakam.

To celebrate the announcement of the forthcoming record, Lane has shared the video for its lead single, ‘First High’, which features the directorial talents of Jocelyn Cooper.

“This song is about chasing that feeling of the first roller coaster, the first drag of a cigarette, that first kiss,” Lane explains. “Those moments are harder to come by the older we get, yet only get better each time. The video captures that feeling of being young in a small town on a summer day, and the lack of inhibition that came with it.”

Denim & Diamonds is set for release September 23rd.
